There is no word to express, how I truely feel every time that I listen to his songs. I am so grateful to have a chance to get a copy of his book(just ordered it recently) and I can't hardly wait to read the story of his life. But at the same time, I feel sad that he is no longer with us, if he only knew, how much he mesmerized my heart. His family are so lucky to have him as their brother. Rest in heaven Rodel.

An essay I wrote about Rodel a couple of years ago. I retrieved it after listening to his songs for the nth time. The quality of his voice has not ceased to amaze me...the mellifluous voice, the tonal range, the sheer versatility. Even today, I find it hard to identify current Filipino singers to match the range of repertoire he was capable of singing be it in English or Tagalog. https://reyracelis.wordpress.com/2016/02/16/rodel-agonistes-paradise-regained/

Iโ€™m still wide awake. Itโ€™s now 1:45am here in my place. And I need to go to work later at 7:00am. Been thinking about Rodel Naval since morning. Getting back to his songs that Iโ€™ve learned to love since childhood days. I was born on early 80โ€™s. At the time of writing, I had the chance again to meet and speak with my childhood classmate/schoolmate from kindergarten to high school. Exchanging private messages on messenger gave me some exciting feeling, happiness and nostalgia of our school days, recalling how did we look like back then. It brought me everyday excitements to talk to him upon waking up, going to and from work, and ending the day. Randomly I thougt about the song again, โ€œMuli,โ€ and wholeheartedly sings it over and over again. Thinking that I would like to dedicate this song to my long lost classmate/schoolmate... and all the what ifs that come with it, thinking what my life would have been, have we just reconnected even more earlier than lately. Then only recently as well, just this morning, that he told me that he has a girl friend waiting for him in the Philippines, and is pregnant now with his child, and sheโ€™ll deliver their first born next month! I was very heart broken in the inside but managed to congratulate him and his girlfriend after learning all the truth that he managed to throw to me as a surprise. It really breaks my heart to know all these today. And now as I continuoisly singing Odyโ€™s Muli, I keep on crying for the disappointment and brokenheartedness that Iโ€™ve just learned. I hope someday if I visit again this website of Ody, pain will have subsided already. Now I miss Mr. Rodel Naval with his song โ€œMuli.โ€ Same thing with that โ€œRodelโ€ of โ€œmineโ€ and my unrequited feelings for him.

I admit that i am now an avid Fan of Rodel Naval until the first time i heard his music. Nakaka inspire at tagos sa puso yung mga kanta nya. Maka buluhan at may pinanghuhugutan. Songs like his, is extra ordinary and someone lived throughout the hearts of the filipinos. My mom also idolized him.

I have been collecting long playing albums (vinyl) for more than a year and I have been always trying to find Rodel's albums. Sadly I believe only 45s were released. I hope someone will revive his songs by creating vinyl albums on his songs. I am still an avid fan and still feels sad knowing he has left so soon.
